Assassin's Creed Odyssey: 2nd episode of the Story DLC and free content in January

Ubisoft has some improvements ready to roll out. In January, Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be enriched with new options. Episode 2 will continue further into the story of "Legacy of the First Blade".

If you're ready for new story content for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you'll have something to look out for in January. Ubisoft has already announced two new episodes for the (free) story arc of "The Lost Tales of Greece". New items, an additional mythical creature, and level scaling options will also be added to the game. Best of all: The (paid) story DLC "The Legacy of the First Blade" will continue.

Note: This article contains slight spoilers of missions included in the Story DLC.

The Legacy of the First Blade - Episode 2: Shadow Heritage

"Order of the Ancients" is stirring troubles again. In the second episode of "Legacy of the First Blade" you will witness a blockade around the port of Achaia. Once there, you will come across a group of stranded citizens who are being terrorized by the vicious naval commander "Tempest". He is the one who commands the fleet that formed the blockade around port. Bring the villain to justice! Steal his secret weapon, help the citizens escape and break the blockade in intense naval battles.

Ubisoft will deliver Shadow Heritage along with an update on January 15th. To start the second episode of the Story DLC in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you must complete the first episode ("Hunted"), finish the Naxos quest line in Chapter 7 of the main campaign, and reach at least character level 28.

Adventure continues in "The Lost Tales of Greece".

The last "Lost Tales" was released in December 2018. Two new episodes await you in January: "The Daughters of Lalaia" and "Poet's Legacy". First we start with Lalaia's daughters. In this episode, you'll visit a village and help it's villagers prepare defenses as they are about to be attacked. All men from the village have left to fight other battle. People that remained need to withstand enemy forces on their own and the only chance they have lies in your leadership. Prepare them and make decisions that will determine the course of the episode.

You start "Daughters of Lalaia" in the Phocis region after reaching at least chapter 5 of Assassin's Creed Odyssey's main campaign. Ubisoft recommends character level 13 or higher for the first quest, "A Gathering Storm".

Fun fact: Daughters of Lalaia is the Greek version of Seven Samurai.

Sometime later this month we will get another episode of "The Lost Tales" - "Poet's Legacy". You meet "Greece's most scandalous poetess", who apparently hides some secrets behind her lute. The first quest, "Praxilla's Admirer", starts after reaching chapter 5 in the region of Boetia. A hero level 34 is recommended.

Mythical creature: Cyclops Arges

Can the fight against the Minotaur be topped? If yes, then his contender will definitely be Cyclops Arges. The creature from Greek mythology comes to life in the January update and represents a real endgame challenge. Ubisoft even recommends a minimum level of 50 to fight the giant. Fight is worth winning as the ultimate prize is the legendary weapon - Hammer of Hephaestus. Arges is waiting for you on the volcanic island of Nisyros in the Angry Caldera of Arges. Update 1.1.1 (now available) adds additional speed travel markers to Assassin's Creed Odyssey after the island is discovered.

New Items, Mercenary Tiers and Scaling Options

The community has expressed their wishes and Ubisoft listened. In Assassin's Creed Odyssey you will soon find settings for the opponent scaling. You've probably already noticed it yourself: The levels of enemies scale with your hero or heroine. This is a prerequisite for ensuring that you never get bored in any of the numerous regions, because enemies are and will remain challenging. But what if you don't feel like having enemies that are always the same? This is where the new scaling options come into play. With new updated you will be able to adjust the difficulty level individually. These are the settings you will be allowed to choose from:

  • Heavy: Opponents level with you and have approximately the same strength.
  • Normal: no change in difficulty level
  • Light: Enemies progress at approximately two levels below your Hero level.
  • Very light: Enemies progress about four levels below your Hero level.

Only on the "nightmare" difficulty level the scaling cannot be adjusted. Because that should remain extremely difficult.

Bounty Hunter - Tiers

Yeah, the bounty hunters can be pretty annoying sometimes. In the future, there will be two new levels in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, so you won't have to rest on your laurels forever after countless battles. Defend your title and battle with even stronger opponents!

New Items

Aya from Assassin's Creed Origins can sail as a lieutenant on the Adrestia if you recruit her. The Egyptian Assassin will most likely soon be available as an option via the Ubisoft Club Rewards.

With the Dionysos Character Pack, you'll soon have another impressive customization package at your fingertips. It includes an equipment set, a mount, and a legendary dagger. But you might want to save your money for the Athena Pack later this month.
