Christmas comes to Destiny 2 next week with The Dawning Event
Celebrate the holiday period in Destiny 2 as Bungie gets ready to deploy The Dawning Event in-game next week. Snowball Fights, new rewards and milestones await.
Tis the Season, and developer Bungie is getting into the Holiday Spirit as The Dawning Event heads to Destiny 2 next week on December 19th. To celebrate the festive time there will be a number of changes in the game, such as themed decorations in certain parts of the game, and a number of activities incluoding Snowball fights! Warlock Vanguard Ikoa Ray breaks down what players can look forward to as The Dawning approaches:
“The Traveler is awake. For Humanity, a new Golden Age has begun. This year's Dawning is unlike any other—it's not just the renewal that a new year brings, but the dawn of something greater. Now more than ever, we must gather together in the Tower, at the Farm, and all across the system to give thanks. Our Light has returned—and it illuminates everything around us."
The Destiny 2 event kicks off next week on December 19th and lasts until the end of January 9th, so you'll be able to enjoy the festitives all the way into the New Year.
Snowball Fights in Destiny 2
It's not just weapons that Guardians are using to fire at enemies, as Snowball Fights are coming to Destiny 2! Get your warmest pair of glvoes on and start scooping up snowballs to use against unsuspecting foes. You'll find piles of Snow lying around The Tower and The Farm, while those who seek a challenge in Strikes can also find Snowballs there to stun enemies and cause high damage to them.
Should you want to fight other players during The Dawning Event, you can take to the Crucible. Mayhem returns and will allow your Abilities to recharge faster, plus the points value has been increased for even more tense games.
Dawning Engrams awarded for Weekly Milestones
Whether you're taking on the Mayhem in the Crucible, or completeting Strikes during The Dawning you will be rewarded for your efforts. If you manage to complete one of the weekly milestones, then you will unlock a new Dawning Engram. That's not all, if you want spread the joy you can share new consumables, which will reward other players you're playing with. Should you be on the lookout for a specific item from The Dawning, Tess will be refreshing her inventory each week to offer new rewards in exchange Bright Dust for presents. Bungie have also announced that during one week of the 3 week event, players can find every piece of Dawning-themed exotic (ship, ghost, sparrow, emote) and armour on her shelves.
Give and receive gifts
Lastly, you can claim a Dawning Gift Schmetic at the Bazaar. By taking to other worlds and crafting a unique gift for the vendors and agents in The Tower, give them the gift and get a gift back in exchange! Details on how exactly this will look within the game remains to be seen, but you can participate in this exchange every day during The Dawning Event.
