Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy - New Direction Revealed in Gameplay Trailer Featuring Brutal Combat
In the new, extended gameplay trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Asobo Studio shows us where the journey is headed—and it’s significantly more combat-focused than anything the series has offered so far.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is an action-adventure game set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. Ready for some direct combat, you take on the role of Sophia, a young looter on the run who wants to uncover the secrets of her past. Her quest leads her to the Island of the Minotaur—a treacherous labyrinth of deadly trials, mythical puzzles, and an ancient threat that connects to her more than she’d like.
Swords, Daggers, and Minoan Puzzles
As the new gameplay trailer makes abundantly clear: Resonance is not a stealth game. Puzzles will likely still need to be solved, but Sophia now dishes out some serious punishment, setting a new course for this series spin-off. With blades, counters, and brutal finishing moves. The combat system relies on quick reflexes, precise parries, and dynamic melee timing. Glowing markers on weapons and enemies indicate how players’ reaction times will be put to the test. The leisurely stone-throwing from older Plague Tale games is consigned to the dustbin of history in Resonance.
You’ll also switch back and forth between Sophia’s medieval present and the ancient Minoan era, with events from the past directly impacting the battles of the present. Add to that a stolen Minoan sphere that lets you manipulate light and solve intricate puzzles.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on August 27, 2026, for PC. Coming soon to Gamesplanet.
