Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Trailer Showcases 8 Minutes of Gameplay

In the latest gameplay trailer for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft highlights the results of its pirate epic remake, featuring an overhauled combat system, new missions, and refreshed story content.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is far more than a simple remaster with upgraded textures. Ubisoft Singapore has rebuilt the 2013 action-adventure from the ground up. Not a single line of code from the original game remains in the remake, which now runs on the latest version of the Anvil engine.

The result is a modernized Caribbean pirate adventure featuring updated visuals, redesigned gameplay systems, and brand-new content. Ubisoft appears to be steering Black Flag Resynced in a promising direction.

In Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, players once again take on the role of pirate captain Edward Kenway, who finds himself caught in the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars while crossing paths with legendary figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Charles Vane.

The story takes place between 1715 and 1722 during the Golden Age of Piracy, spanning locations from Havana and Kingston to Nassau.

What's New in AC Black Flag Resynced?

The trailer reveals a combat system that has been completely redesigned from the ground up. Rather than relying on button-mashing, Resynced emphasizes precise parries, counters, and chained takedowns. Dual swords, pistols, and hidden blades now work together more seamlessly than they did in the original game.

Parkour and stealth mechanics have also been reworked. Players can now crouch freely, and the dreaded instant desynchronization that occurred when being detected during tailing or eavesdropping missions has been removed. Instead of immediately failing, targets now react dynamically, allowing missions to continue.

At sea, Edward's ship, the Jackdaw, gains a variety of unlockable features, including what appear to be new alternate firing modes for its weapons.

Three new officers—Lucy Baldwin, the Padre, and Dead Man Smith—join the crew, each bringing unique missions and special abilities. Dead Man Smith, for example, unlocks dual broadside attacks.

Additional features include:

• Shipboard pets such as a cat or monkey
• New sea shanties
• An expanded underwater exploration system
• Diving without the need for the cumbersome diving bell

New Story Content and Expanded Character Arcs

Veteran players will also find new narrative content waiting for them. Both Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet receive expanded story arcs with additional missions and character development.

Ubisoft has removed both the original Freedom Cry DLC and the multiplayer mode from Resynced. Instead, the studio is focusing entirely on delivering the best possible single-player experience centered around Edward Kenway's adventure.
