Using a VPN to activate?
Is this possible? I live in Canada and have purchased several games from GamesPlanet, and am hoping (if the restrictions aren't removed by then) to be able to use a VPN to download the game...

Strictly speaking, we can not recommend the use of a VPN. However, the region lock is just on the activation itself. After that, you are free to play anywhere.
