Assassin's Creed Origins: New Game + and Discovery Tour modes available today

Learn about history in a new way as the Discovery Mode arrives in Assassin's Creed Origins today, free for all owners of the game. New Game Plus Mode also available and adds a new challenge the main game.

Take a trip to Egypt once again as a new patch for Assassin's Creed Origins launches today, which features the long awaited "Discovery Tour" mode and also the "New Game +" mode that adds a new level of challenge to the game, with a reward available for those who seek it. Learn about history with the Discovery Tour and find out more about the Ancient Empire in this new update. Both are available today for all owners of the main game.

You can pick one of 25 characters and explore one of the 75 interactive tours to give players an insight into history. The idea behind this new mode was mainly created as an educational tool to help teachers and students learn more about history in a fun new way. The discovery mode is included in the patch today for Assassin's Creed Origins. Ubisoft spoke out about the new mode in their blog:

We want the Discovery Tour to be accessible for anyone. That's in terms of content, but also in terms of accessibility in the game design. All the tour starting points are physically available in the 3D world, but you can also browse the tours on your 3D map, look at them with your eagle and fast-travel to tours, look at the content menu, and then you can go deep into all the different tours in the menu directly.

Resident Assassin's Creed Historian Maxime Durand continued, saying that their goal was to create a rich experience that would offer as much information as possible for players.

Our goal is to be as generous as possible, to give as much information as possible, and also to explain the way we make these games. That was something we felt would enrich the experience a lot.

To help you get started you'll be able to locate the locations on your map, then use your trusty eagle Senu to fast travel to that location. You also have the option to start things from the main menu. Discovery tour is free for all players that own a copy of Assassin's Creed Origins, or will be available at a later date to purchase separately for a reduced cost as a standalone and will not require the main game.

New Game Plus Mode for Assassin's Creed Origins

Also available today is the "New Game+ Mode", which can be started after completing the main story at least once. Should you take on this new mode your story will restart, however you will keep your XP, Crafting materials, Abilities, Gear and player level. By selecting NG+ it will also bump up the difficulty by an extra level. For example if you were previously playing on Easy then it will be set to Normal when starting NG+, Normal would be changed to Hard and so on. The only difficulty which is not given a higher mode is Nightmare, which still remains Nightmare in NG+.

All quests, locations, targets, and more will be unavailable until they are found again in the story. In the official blog Ubisoft answers all important questions about the new game mode. Plus for anyone who tackles this New Game+, a reward can be claimed but the details of what it is are being kept hidden from Ubisoft so players can find out for themselves!
