Assassin's Creed Valhalla is stronger than ever: Update 1.8.0 finally brings New Game+ and loads of extras

With update 1.8.0, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is finally getting NG+ mode, the Mithril resource, a stash, a revamped Rune Forge and much more. The patch is available for PC from today.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an action role-playing game set in 9th-century England. You play as the Viking Eivor, leading raids, expanding the settlement of Ravensthorpe and getting involved in politics.

New Game+ for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

AC players have been waiting a long time for this: with update 1.8.0, you can relive the Viking saga of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla all over again. To do so, you must complete the ‘Holy Day’ quest in Hamtunscire, which takes place before the true ending of the story. Each subsequent NG+ playthrough gets tougher. Duplicate pieces of equipment or tomes now drop the new resource, Mithril. Wealth chests also yield platinum, which was previously only available in Dawn of Ragnarök. This means you can achieve Divine quality even without the DLC.

Stash, Runes and Extended Progression

You can now level Divine gear up to level 27 instead of 13, but this consumes vast amounts of mithril. Extended Progression Mode allows your Power to increase in smaller increments. In Ravensthorpe, there’s a Stash that finally tidies up your gear and runes. The Rune Forge features a new Upgrade tab: You can upgrade runes using silver; the new ‘Superior’ tier costs mithril. Over 300 perks can also be engraved for 450 silver each.

There are also two achievements (‘Ivaldi’s Heir’ and ‘Circle of Renewal’) and a new Naoe outfit. The patch should now be available for PC players to download. For further changes to AC Valhalla, see the ever-so-long patch notes.
