Two videos for Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes showcase the squad system in detail and offer insights into the creation of the soundtrack—the game releases on May 11, 2026.

With just a few days left until launch, developer Alt Shift and publisher Dotemu are ramping things up one more time: A deep-dive trailer takes you into the tactical world of the squadrons, while a second video featuring composer Nicolas de Ferran offers a behind-the-scenes look at the soundtrack.

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a tactical roguelite in which you, as a Gunstar captain, guide a refugee convoy through a galaxy infested with Cylons. The goal: to reach the Battlestar Galactica. Between real-time battles with pauses and tough fleet management, you’ll decide on resources, crew factions, and the deployment of your squadrons—every run is a new attempt to keep humanity alive.

Vipers, Raptors, and More: Squadrons as the Heart of Your Defense

Each squadron comes with its own base stats, active, and passive abilities—and these need to be carefully considered. A Viper is fast but only effective at close range; a Raptor is slower but excels as an escort with a long firing range. Things get tactically interesting with ship types like the Wolf, which draws fire with taunt abilities, or the Raven, which enables surprise attacks via stealth mode. Those who skillfully combine Gunstar weapons and squad skills can make life difficult even for superior Cylon fleets.

Cello Meets Synthesizer: The Scattered Hopes Soundtrack

De Ferran, known for the indie game They Are Billions, deliberately chose not to create a Bear McCreary clone (McCreary composed the original music for the TV series). Instead of ethnic instruments, he relies on acoustic drums, plenty of synthesizers—including a Prophet Rev2—and a solo cello, performed by Paris Opera cellist Georges Barré, for the soundtrack of Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes. The result sounds organic yet mechanical: human warmth versus cybernetic coldness. It’s nice to see that background music is given such high priority, even in strategy games.

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes will be available on Gamesplanet from launch on May 11th.
