Unsuccessful registration on Steam

I have BL on Steam, but not the GOTY. Steam is not accepting this key, saying I already have the game. Argh!

If you have borderlands on your steam account activated you get the GOTY update for free, so you dont need to buy borderlands GOTY if you already bought the old one

I read that I could permanently delete a game from Steam which would allow me to add the game again (and use the key). When I went to do this, it told me I was deleting Borderlands GOTY! Huh, why wasn't this said anywhere else? Anyhoo, I'm still happy knowing that I qualify for the remastered game! I'll be contacting support to see about a refund. But will be a regular here knowing that you guys are great to offer help! Kudos to you!

Hey, not sure what you did but you didn't need to delete the game in order to redeem this key. It would simply add the DLC to your existing license if you had the base game. Either way I hope you you figured it out. Steam can sometimes be unclear on what's being added/removed but we're happy to help if you need anything.
