Hello, I'm wondering whether region lock is only related with activation. For example, if I purchase this, then give the key and my account info to my trusted friend in Germany so he can activate it on my account while logging in with EU ip address, can I play it in Asia later?

That won't work for you, as two requirements needs to be met: (1) The IP needs to be within Europe and (2) the Battle.net accounts needs to be inside the EU Region.

Once activated on an account, the game works globally. (Want to ensure people are not afraid of travelling)

No, it won't. It's not a geo lock on our store, it's from the publisher and on the activation itself.

Installation / Activation through Battle.net

Go to http://battle.net
Log in with your username / password (create one if you don't have one)
Once logged in, click the "Account" tab in the top right corner
On the new page, select "Add a game key"
A window will prompt you to enter the code you purchased on Gamesplanet
After a few minutes, Battle.net will authenticate your code
The game is now visible in your list
Click it to start the download
