Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer: New Details and Gameplay Shown!

The next evolution of Call of Duty Multiplayer begins later this year with the launch of COD Black Ops Cold War on November 13th. Find out more about the modes, maps and operators coming to the game while you wait!

Get those boots on the ground as the next entry of the Call of Duty series jumps into action with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 13th. Thanks to a brand new livestream even from Activision we were given the first details of the explosive-multiplayer that fans can expect later this year, including some changes to scorestreaks and new modes such as a VIP Escort mode that's 6v6 players trying to keep one player alive at all costs while they try to escape.

The Multiplayer will take plans around the globe and continue the events of the single player campaign, taking place several years after the story has wrapped up. Players will be able to visit locations such as Miami, the North Atlantic, Angola and more with a variety of modes, maps and weapons at their disposal. Take a look at the multiplayer trailer below to get a taste of the action:

Once you've customised your operator from a range of loadouts, weapons and perks you'll be able to jump straight into the multiplayer modes, with returning favourites such as Domination, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint and more. As well as the new VIP Escort Map, they'll also be adding other new modes such as Combined Arms, and Fireteam. It's also been confirmed that the popular Control mode will be making a return in Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Features

Deniable Operations
Jump into a realistic and gritty world of off the books missions and off-the-record targets. Deniable Operations lie at the heart of this Multiplayer experience to build a unique but pure Black Ops experience with new modes and ways to play.

Signature Combat
Black Ops Cold War takes that classic Black ops Multiplayer feel and brings it to new heights. Heads up gameplay, automated healing, grounded operator movement plus innovative new systems bring the most cinematic moments to life and results in that signature Black Ops Combat.

Connected Experience
Black Ops Cold War is set to support cross-platform and cross-generation play as well as cross-progression, breaking ground for the Call of Duty franchise as it introduces the next generation of global combat.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, as the team have promised to expand Call of Duty: Warzone with shared progression and unlocks that carry over to the next evolution with Black Ops Cold War's iteration of the mode. If you've got a favourite weapon, character or wanting to take that cyberpet watch with you then fear not, as it'll carry over. Best of all, the game will be the first game in the series to support both cross platform and cross generation. Like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before it, players will be able to play with players regardless of platform.

Scorestreaks will also be changing, no longer being reset when you die and will persist until you reach a certain score. You'll also be able to string together streaks from kills within the same life, as well as helping the team out by playing objectives. To prevent abuse they'll be making sure each scorestreak has a cooldown attached to it to balance the game.

We also got a small tease of the zombies mode with the end of the trailer, hinting that indeed zombies will be included in the next entry. As yet we do not know any further details about that but hopefully we'll learn more soon in the runup to beta and launch!

  • Auto health regeneration has returned to ensure players can focus on gunplay and movement.

  • Sliding now naturally transitions into to a tactical crouched position for more controlled and realistic movement patterns.
  • Players can toggle several HUD elements in Settings, including the ability to see health bars over enemies and allies.
  • Players can edit their loadouts mid-match without having to leave the game.
  • We know you’re eager to hear more about Black Ops Cold War’s progression system, and we’ll have additional details to share in the coming weeks.
  • And yes, stealth fans... the Ninja Perk makes its comeback from the original Black Ops to dampen the sound of your footsteps while sprinting.
