In Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters, you can now fight your way to the championship. The launch trailer shows Tsubasa Ozora and his team on their path to success.

Following the success of Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, Bandai Namco is now following up with Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters – and has packed in plenty of content. In this anime-style action sports game, you play as Tsubasa Ozora, starting out on Brazilian training grounds before heading off to the World Youth Championship alongside teammates and rivals. The story is based on the ‘World Youth’ arc from the original manga and was personally overseen by the series’ creator, Yoichi Takahashi.

More teams, more tricks, more madness

The game playfully builds on the tried-and-tested principle: football that treats the laws of physics and fair play, by conventional standards, more as a suggestion. Over 150 new special moves are spread across all positions – from strikers to goalkeepers, no one is left out. Goalkeepers in particular can look forward to spectacular miracle saves in this second instalment, turning every shot on goal into a real thrill. In total, you have 22 national teams, 11 clubs and more than 110 playable characters at your disposal.

For fans of over-the-top anime football action, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is an absolute must-play. However, you should leave any expectations of a realistic simulation at home. It’s simply arcade football. The launch trailer certainly whets your appetite for spectacular step-overs, acrobatic moves and shots on goal that should really be beyond the free-kick area.
