Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is here – the vampire hunt continues in Paris
As is customary, the Belmont family returns to duty at regular intervals. Forty years on from the beginnings of Castlevania, Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin have joined forces to let you hunt the creatures of the night.
In Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, you’ll find yourself in Paris in the year 1499. Gothic style, a holy whip and well-hidden secrets are, of course, all part of the package. This time, you take on the role of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Paris is ablaze, monstrous creatures are rampaging through the streets, and a mysterious castle poses a threat to the capital.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action game that also places a strong emphasis on exploration. The whip is used to swing from objects, overcome obstacles and reach remote areas. The curious amongst you will be rewarded: you’d be well advised to search every nook and cranny before rushing headlong into things.
It’s hard to talk about Castlevania without mentioning the music. One tune immediately springs to mind: ‘Bloody Tears’, which, as ever, has been revisited and reinterpreted for this new instalment. And it’s a real treat.
From today, the streets of Paris await you in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse which is up to 20% on Gamesplanet, valid for the Standard Edition and the Midnight Edition. The latter also includes a digital gallery featuring sound effects and illustrations, as well as three in-game items.
