Sandfall sets the record straight – a clear winner with 9 Game Awards for Clair Obscur
Clair Obscur was awarded the "Game of the Year 2025" at the Game Awards last week and won an impressive total of nine awards: “Best Narrative,” “Best Direction,” “Best Art Design,” “Best RPG,” “Best Performance,” “Best Music,” “Best Indie Game,” and “Best Debut Game”!
This marks the dawn of a true Belle Époque for the French gaming scene: The nine trophies for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 even surpass the previous record of seven awards set by The Last of Us Part II set in 2020.
It was a resounding triumph for the team at Studio Sandfall in Montpellier, who thanked gamers for their unwavering enthusiasm at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and announced the release of the free update for Clair Obscur, which was originally scheduled for release last November.
The game's enormous success is the result of an extraordinary combination: captivating artistic design, an immersive story that plays with light and shadow like a cat with a laser pointer, and gameplay that surprises without ever frustrating.
That same night, Sandfall released the Thank You Update, which adds a new region, new adventures, new music tracks by Lorien Testard, and new endgame battles with previously unknown bosses in the Eternal Tower. Also new is an official photo mode that makes it even easier to capture your favorite moments.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently on sale at Gamesplanet—grab it and enjoy the game of the year!
Thank you and congratulations, Sandfall!
