New preview video on combat and character development in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert follows up with a new preview video focusing on the combat system and progression. The second video provides a detailed insight into key gameplay mechanics.

With the new video “Crimson Desert #2: Combat and Development,” developer Pearl Abyss gives you a deeper look into the gameplay basics of the upcoming, seemingly extremely versatile open-world action adventure Crimson Desert. It's always nice when new gameplay footage from this opulent game emerges. Here you can see how the so-called Greymane hold their own in combat, which weapons are used, and how skills can be combined with each other. It's not just about raw striking power, but also about clean timing, chaining attacks and defensive or evasive maneuvers, and the targeted use of learned techniques.

In addition, the Crimson Desert video shows how your character becomes stronger over the course of their journey. New skills are gradually unlocked, equipment can be upgraded and customized as you face increasingly dangerous challenges on the continent of Pywel. The video is divided into two sections: First, it focuses on the fighting style of the Greymane (time stamp 00:36), then it highlights the path of gameplay progression (03:03). The footage shown is from the PC version of Crimson Desert and gives a direct impression of the current state of development.

Beyond the video shown here, Crimson Desert remains an ambitious open-world game with a strong narrative core and what appears to be a wide variety of quests. You take on the role of Kliff, whose gang was destroyed after a brutal attack by the Black Bears. On the vast continent of Pywel, you set out to find scattered companions, forge new alliances, and get to the bottom of a power operating in the background. The open world is seamlessly designed and is said to offer both major conflicts and small, seemingly insignificant encounters that can have far-reaching consequences.
