Crimson Desert: A fleeing player stumbles upon a secret wall and finds a hidden cloak

A Reddit clip shows a Crimson Desert player discovering an invisible door in a church while on the run—out of sheer curiosity—and finding a hidden cloak waiting behind it.

Pearl Abyss has released Crimson Desert, an open-world action-adventure game that takes the joys of exploration seriously. On the vast continent of Pywel, you take on the role of mercenary leader Kliff, fighting, riding, and—as it turns out—occasionally finding things you weren’t even looking for.

A Rare Stroke of Luck

That’s exactly what happened to Reddit user “liminaldrifter.” While fleeing enemies in Crimson Desert, he used the Church of West Demeniss near the Marshell/Byron Estate as cover without a second thought. Out of sheer curiosity, he climbed up the building and noticed that his character was leaning strangely against a wall. One bold shove later, and a previously completely invisible opening appeared in the stone wall. Behind it: a hidden room with a chest containing a cloak waiting for its rightful owner. The community is thrilled—and skeptical

Players are absolutely thrilled by these kinds of serendipitous discoveries. But in the comments on Reddit, people are also wondering how anyone could ever discover this room through conventional means. The answer, however, lies in the game design itself: Crimson Desert rewards precisely those players who climb every tower and search every nook and cranny. The hidden passage is cleverly positioned—hard to spot, but definitely accessible to the curious. It’s practically like the secret walls in Dark Souls. Rarely immediately recognizable, but once you’ve found such a passage, the joy is immense.

Less relevant is the controversy over the fact that the Reddit user apparently didn’t stumble upon the discovery by chance, but rather sought out the location intentionally with the information in hand to make the video “go viral.” But who really cares, right? Keep on pushing!
