Cronos: The New Dawn - Launch trailer for today's release, 20% discount
Cronos: The New Dawn from Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, Observer: System Redux) takes you into an oppressive mix of survival horror and time-travel mystery set in an alternate version of the 1980s. As so-called "travelers," you roam through a post-apocalyptic future where humanity stands at the brink (or may already have stepped too far). To find answers, you journey through mysterious rifts back to 1980s Poland – a setting that blends retro-futurism, Eastern European brutalism, and cold, partly ruined industrial landscapes.
At the center of events are the "Orphans": grotesque creatures that continuously reassemble new bodies from the corpses of their victims. Every victory over them is only temporary, as without fire they rise again. This mechanic makes combat both tactical and nerve-racking. Resources are scarce, ammunition is rare, and every mistake can be fatal. Mindless shooting is not an option.
The gameplay in this horror setting is somewhat reminiscent of classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but it combines their dense atmosphere with modern elements like dynamic enemies and time loops, which are also used for puzzles and story twists. The critically acclaimed sound design captures the style of the 80s and heightens the feeling of constant threat.
Cronos: The New Dawn may not be a miracle of innovation, but it combines well-known – and above all popular – survival horror formulas with an unusual setting and a fascinating time-travel concept. For today’s release, developer Bloober Team has published a launch trailer you can watch here.
