Dark Souls Remastered: Polish Developer QLOC working on the ports

Deveoloper QLOC are reportedly working on the upcoming Dark Souls Remastered version for PC, Xbox One and PS4 which is due out on May 25th 2018.

When it was first announced, many were happy to be getting an update to the classic Dark Souls - however there was a bit of worry among the community as to how the game would be based on the previous works from developer From Software. Fans can put their doubts to rest as news has been revealed that Polish developers QLOC are doing most of the work for the upcoming remaster. QLOC are no strangers to ports and remastered versions of games, with their previous work including such games as: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Resident Evil 6, God Eater, DMC: Devil May Cry and the great Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. So it's little wonder that both From Software and Bandai Namco have such confidence in QLOC's abilities to update this classic for modern hardware. The game arrives on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on May 25th 2018, with the Nintendo Switch version (being worked on by an unknown developer) comes to the handheld on the same day.

The information comes from Kotaku UK News Editor Laura Kate Dale, who explains that QLOC are involved in the upcoming ports for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. While From Software are working on the versions in some degree, it's QLOC that is doing most of the heavy lifting for these new ports and have been working on the project for roughly a year.

There has also been a recent rumour that the upcoming Remastered version would be 50% off for previous owners of the game, however Bandai have yet to confirm officially whether or not that the discount will actually happen. Sources originally claimed that there would be no discount, but recently a source on the Steam forums seemingly debunked that claim, though they would not clarify if that meant there would be a discount. Whether or not the game does get a loyalty discount remains to be seen, though we won't have long to wait as the Dark Souls Remaster arrives on May 25th and will be available to purchase from Gamesplanet prior to that!
