Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - Everything you need to know

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is coming to PC on March 19, 2026. Here in our release overview, you can check out the best trailers, system requirements, get an overview of the editions, and find the exact release date.

What is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach? What makes the PC version different?

The original Death Stranding was one of the most unusual AAA games of its time in 2019: an open-world adventure with an unconventional art style typical of Kojima, in which you march through a post-apocalyptic USA as a courier, connecting settlements and evading supernatural beings. In typical Hideo Kojima fashion, it polarized the gaming landscape—and yet, or rather precisely because of that, became a cult hit.

The sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, was initially released in June 2025 for the PS5 and received even better reviews than the first installment: 90 points on OpenCritic, IGN called it one of the strongest sequels of recent years, and Eurogamer praised the game as more powerful and emotional than its predecessor. Barely nine months later, the PC version is now arriving—developed by Kojima Productions in collaboration with Nixxes Software, known for top-notch PC ports of PlayStation titles.

As Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), your goal is now to connect Australia and Mexico to the Chiral Network. This takes place eleven months after the events of the previous game. The story revolves around a fundamental question that haunts Sam and his companions throughout the entire game: Should humans have ever established these connections in the first place?

In terms of gameplay, Death Stranding 2 combines exploration, action, and building. You navigate treacherous terrain prone to time rain, sandstorms, earthquakes, and fires. Black time rain causes everything it touches to age instantly. Along the way, you build infrastructure such as bridges and paths, upgrade your equipment, and constantly decide whether to avoid enemies or confront them with machine guns, sniper rifles, shotguns, and grenade launchers. New additions include mech soldiers, previously unknown GD types, and fresh boss battles. The APAS system allows you to specialize Sam through unlockable abilities, such as improved weapon fire rate, driving skills, or stealthier movement. The Strand network, through which you interact asynchronously with other players, is also back: the structures you build and resources you donate help other couriers on their own journeys—and ultimately help you as well.

The PC version of Death Stranding 2 offers improvements over the console version in several areas: DLSS, FSR, and XeSS are built-in, frame rates are freely scalable, and ultrawide displays are supported at 32:9 during gameplay and 21:9 during cutscenes. DualSense controllers benefit from haptic feedback and adaptive triggers—and full mouse and keyboard controls can be freely mapped.
