Destiny 2: Getting to know the characters of the game
The universe of Destiny 2 is filled with some great characters, get to know some of the faces you'll be meeting when the game arrives on October 24th for PC.
When it comes to videogames, one of the most important aspects are the charactrers that inhabit our games, and Destiny has a rich cast of characters that bring their own unique style to the overal experience. While you wait for the PC game to launch on October 24th, we thought it best to take a moment and give a little synopsis on some of the new faces you'll meet when you load up Destiny 2 for the first time. Many characters are returning from the original game, while others are completely new. Let's introduce them!
Destiny 2 Characters
This is you, players will be given the option to play as one of 3 Classes: Hunter, Warlock and Titan - each with their own unqiue abilities and subclasses. The Titan focuses more on defending others and is built for taking damage, the Hunter is useful at range and melee depending on your focus, armed with quick-fire pistols and a kinetic staff to dispatch foes. Lastly you have the Warlock, who can summon fire from the skies to smite foes in their path. At the start of the game you will learn more about your powers, but will eventually lose them. Journey throughout the various planets to regain your Light and fight back against Ghaul.
Meet Ghaul, the main bad guy for Destiny 2. When the game begins he attacks The Tower and forces the Guardians to scramble to defend it. His goal is to control of the Traveler's Light for himself and he will not let anything stand in his way from completing his objective. He and his Red Legion Army manage to take the Traveler prisoner and thereby takes away the power from the Guardians. As you progress in your story you will learn more about his motivations why he seeks the Light, believing Guardians to not be worthy of such power.
Commander Zavala is one of the greatest Titan's in the city and serves as their class leader. You first meet him in the Tower, but is forced to move planet and heads to Saturn's Moon Titan. Feeling lost without his Light, the once proud Zavala is left shaken and must help those on the moon survive against the Red Legion. Titan is home to a number of enemies including The Darkness, an enemy that lurks in the shadows. With the help of the Guardian he can fight back and put back his Fireteam so he can launch back against Ghaul with the help of his allies.
The Hunter Vanguard and class leader is Cayde-6, you'll run into him on the planet Nessus and he's going to require your help getting out of a sticky situation that he finds himself in. Voiced by the wonderful Nathan Filion (Firefly), Cayde-6 is skilled with a quick draw pistol and provides Hunters will much needed gear. You will also be able to get treasure maps from him that can be used to find treasure chests on each planet.
Ikora is the Warlock Vanguard and class leader, you will meet her on the planet Io where she must come to terms with losing her powers. Warlocks will want to meet with her as she can offer powerful rewards and challenges designed only for Warlocks. Other players can interact with her too but only Warlocks will be able to equip items for their class.
After the Tower was taken over by Ghaul you're forced to the EDZ (European Dead Zone), one of the first faces you will come across is Hawthorn and her hawk companion Louis. Expert marksman with a sniper, she stayed behind after all was lost and now helps refugees find their place on The Farm - the new social hub you will find in Destiny 2. While she might not be a Guardian, her will to fight and help others will provide useful in the darkest of times.
Lord Shaxx is back again, serving as the PVP narrator and loves to pit players against one another in combat. By doing multiplayer games in the Crucible you can get new gear from him, as well as completing various challenges in PVP to unlock more.
Devrim Kay is the first NPC lookout you will encounter on Earth, located in the EDZ he serves to gather as much intelligence as he can on the Red Legion threat. When you first meet him he'll be sending you out into the world and is one of the first places you can get your hands on early gear. As you progress in the EDZ you will gather currency, turn this in to Devrim and gain new gear.
Tess works for the Eververse Trading Company, you will find her on the Farm and she allows you to trade in currency for random gear. You can also spend real money on "silver", and unlock new rewards this way. Items such as Weapons, Shaders, Gear and even Vehicles can be obtained from Tess.
Xur also makes a return from the original game, he is an Agent of the Nine and can be found moving between planets each week as he offers new Exotic loot for the players in exchange for Legendary shards. Every week he will be in a different location and offer powerful weapons and gear for Guardians. So far he offers 1 item per class and a weapon, which varies on week to week.
