[E3 2018] Devil May Cry 5 Announced with a Trailer and Screenshots

The son of Sparda Dante returns in the next entry of the Devil May Cry franchise, as Devil May Cry 5 gets unveiled to the world. Launches in Spring 2019 for PC and consoles.

It's been 10 years since we got Devil May Cry 4, and despite an attempted reboot by Ninja Theory in 2013 with DMC - Devil May Cry the franchise has been in limbo ever since. Today Capcom revealed that a fifth entry in the franchise would be launching early next year with Devil May Cry 5 coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4. Director Hideaki Itsuno and the core team behind DMC 4 returns to the series to conclude the Sons of Sparda saga. The series is best known for adrenaline fueled moments with high speed action and demonic creatures.

Several years have passed in Devil May Cry 5 and the threat of demonic power, long since forgotten, has returned to menace the world once again. The demonic invasion begins with the seeds of a “demon tree” taking root in Red Grave City. This hellish incursion attracts the attention of the young demon hunter, Nero, an ally of Dante who now finds himself without his demonic arm, the source of much of his power. As Nero heads to Red Grave City in his motorhome named “Devil May Cry” with his partner Nico, he ruminates on how everything started. The loss of his demonic arm, the demonic invasion, and Dante’s unknown whereabouts. Things must be settled once and for all.

Capcom are using the in-house RE Engine to ensure that Devil May Cry 5 can achieve great visual fidelity alongside the high speed gameplay we can expect. The game will feature ground-breaking graphics that will allow for photo-realistic characters, stunning lighting and environmental effects. It will also feature 3 playable characters, each with their own distinct style and combat moves as they take on the demons to prevent them from overrunning the city. Expect large boss fights taking place against some destructible environments in Red Grave City too.
