The Doom Slayer is back! DOOM: The Dark Ages - the launch trailer
Initial test results from the trade press have been very positive and Bethesda has now released the launch trailer shortly before the game's release on May 15th. Watch it here.
With a loud heavy metal blast through hordes of shooting enemies - DOOM: The Dark Ages is ready for release on May 15th. In terms of gameplay, the new DOOM is positioned between the two most recent DOOM titles, i.e. between DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal (2020), dispensing with the acrobatics from Eternal and handing you a shield as a new feature. In typical DOOM fashion, however, you will certainly not adopt a permanent defensive stance with it: Even a shield can extend its claws in DOOM: The Dark Ages, allowing it to be used as a weapon. The launch trailer for the shooter festival released today captures this in sound and vision.
As a 2025 model of the Doom Slayer, you are a walking apocalypse that makes even deities sweat. The Dark Ages takes us back to a time before 2016's DOOM in an early medieval setting. This doesn't mean that you'll have to rely on simple melee weapons from now on. You fire from various firearms, shotguns, rocket launchers and many more, and your opponents do the same. If you don't want to go down in a hail of bullets, dodge in a rain of bullets, use your shield and combine these manoeuvres in parallel with well-rehearsed attack patterns.
DOOM: The Dark Ages launches on May 15th, and you can already pre-order it as a Steam key on Gamesplanet and get a bonus skin as a pre-order bonus. Can't wait until May 15th? You can also get the Premium Edition and play from May 13th, 2 days earlier!
