Dune: Awakening - Video introduces mysterious Arrakis and gameplay elements
Rub the sleeping sand out of your eyes, because the new trailer for Dune: Awakening demands your attention. We explore the desert planet Arrakis and learn about gameplay elements from the Dune MMO.
Funcom (Conan Exiles, Dune: Spice Wars) invites you on a journey to the desert planet Arrakis with a new trailer for the upcoming multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening. In the Dune MMO, you can freely explore the open, ever-changing world, create maps and track down rare resources to build advanced technologies. Dune: Awakening will be ready for launch on May 20th.
Under the trailer title ‘Secrets of the Desert’, magnificent desert landscapes unfold before your eyes. The apparent solitude and tranquillity under Arrakis' moon is of course deceptive. Beneath the dunes, dangerous giant worms rush through the sand, always coming to the surface and striking as soon as they perceive noises or vibrations on the surface.
But sandworms won't be your only problem in Dune: Awakening. As indicated in the video, you will start by building a shelter, crafting a suit and building your first vehicle. You will then use a scanner to search the world of Dune for resources. Huge shipwrecks and abandoned planetary stations will reveal one or two surprises upon investigation. And then the video also shows the grappling hook, which you can use to go vertical in Dune: Awakening, for example up rock faces.
Other tools are also useful, but the game really gets going when you have your first flying machine at your disposal, such as the famous ornithopter. It will certainly make it easier for you to explore the areas. Sandstorms also regularly sweep across the land - one such devastating storm is even said to completely change landscapes every week. The area with the precious resources may therefore be somewhere else next week.
On Steam you can already download and start the character editor and the benchmark tool for Dune: Awakening. The game will also soon be available on Gamesplanet.
