Revisit the world of Hope County, Montana in the upcoming Far Cry: New Dawn when it launches on February 15th. See what the critics are saying with our review round up while you wait.

Meet colourful animals.

Head back to the post-apocalyptic world of Hope County, Montana in Far Cry: New Dawn, which is launching tomorrow. The game takes place 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5 after a global nuclear catastrophe has destroyed most of the world. It'll be up to you to lead a band of survivors to take on the ruthless Highwaymen, a group of lawless rebels who are led by the Twins, Mickey and Lou. Players will be able to build up their home base of prosperity and recruit allies in the fight as they explore this destroyed world.

Like in the previous game, you'll be able to gain Guns for Hire that have various abilities to assist you in battle. Such as snipers, attack dogs and even helicopter pilots. Customisation is a big part of the game too, with a focus on upgrading and building up new weapons to get the job done. The game also adds in Expeditions, which are small chunks of gameplay that take place outside of Hope County, and can be played solo or with friends. Outposts have also been changed up and this time around you can opt to scavenge resources, which will offer up a tougher challenge when revisiting them and get even better rewards.

Let's dive into the critic scores to see how the Far Cry: New Dawn is doing among the gaming sites! Open Critic currently lists the game at a Fair 74 rating, based on 69 critic reviews.

Critics on Far Cry: New Dawn

"Looking ahead, the series is equipped to veer off in a bunch of compelling new directions. I don't know what to expect from the future of Far Cry, and that's so exciting. My mind is buzzing with possibilities."
Jordan Devore, Destructoid (8/10)

"It's Far Cry 5 again, on a smaller scale and with a post-apocalyptic paint job."
Christopher Livingston, PC Gamer (70/100)

"Far Cry New Dawn shares a lot of great similarities with Far Cry 5, but it's the minor tweaks that allow it to stand as its own title."
Matthew Zimmari, Press Start (9/10)

"Far Cry New Dawn might be a spinoff game, but it's sure to have a lasting impact on what we think of when Far Cry comes to mind."
Zoe Delahunty-Light, GamesRadar+ (4/5 stars)

"An over-familiar follow-up, perhaps, but New Dawn whittles away the rough edges of Far Cry 5 for something extremely enjoyable."
Vikki Blake, Eurogamer (Recommended)
