FarmCon 21: Seasonal weather in Farming Simulator 22 showcased
With Farming Simulator 22, GIANTS Software introduces seasonal weather conditions. At FarmCom 21, the studio has now presented the change of seasons in detail.
It is one of those features where you ask yourself: "Why only now?". There is a right time for everything. Cucumbers in June, Strawberries are best bought from May, Pears in July. And seasonal weather conditions as a feature in Farming Simulator are finally ready for implementation with the completely modernised Farming Simulator 22. At FarmCom 21, the developers from GIANTS Software have now presented the seasonal changes in the game in detail for the first time with a gameplay video showcasing the new feature:
Seasonal change: Effects on graphics and yields
What looks nice at first glance could, under certain circumstances, ruin your harvest. Some types of fruit do not like frost. In the future, your activities on the fields of Farming Simulator 22 will also be based on the cultivation calendar. The "Seasonal Changes" in Farming Simulator 22 do not only influence the visual presentation, but also the gameplay.
So before you plant and harvest, you should always keep an eye on the seasonal cycles. But only if "seasonal growth" is activated, because GIANTS Software leaves it up to you whether the seasons should have an effect on the gameplay or not. Simply switch off the feature if you want to plant and harvest comfortably all year round. Alternatively, you can leave only the graphic effects switched on.
Real farming pros, however, naturally play with changing seasons and their effects. GIANTS Software explains: Fruits such as grapes or olives are best grown between March and June. Your juicy grapes roll through your harvesting machines in Farming Simulator 22 at the beginning of September at the earliest, while you only pick olives in October. Special rules also apply to the third new cereal, millet, for best yields (sowing in April and May, harvesting from August).
But that's not all: sales revenues depend on demand and thus also on the season. GIANTS recommends that virtual PC farmers store their harvest in the meantime in order to sell it profitably when demand is high. So you see, a farming simulator is not just a simple game in which you monotonously clear fields like rows of Tetris. Farming Simulator 22, also in combination with the announced Precision Farming, is a real simulation with plenty of depth and offers numerous things to keep the player engaged.
Of course, Farming Simulator 22 does not calculate the seasons in real time. A year consists of only twelve game days, which means that one game day is roughly equivalent to a whole month. But here, too, you can individualise your gameplay yourself and, for example, set the time sequences so that a season only runs on a weekend.
