Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake - Spooky launch trailer for the release
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake is now ready to go. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are sending twins Mio and Mayu back to the cursed village of Minakami—this time with revamped graphics and new gameplay mechanics.
The remake of a true horror adventure classic is here—and if you're sitting alone in front of your PC at night, you might want to leave your headphones off. To celebrate the release of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, Koei Tecmo America and developer Team Ninja have released a launch trailer that once again highlights why the abandoned village of Minakami is one of the creepiest locations in video game history.
In this Japanese horror adventure, you control twin sisters Mio and Mayu, who get lost in an abandoned village populated by vengeful ghosts. Your only weapon against the undead is the Camera Obscura, which not only allows you to see ghosts, but also to fight them. The remake adds new features to the camera, such as focus, zoom, and interchangeable filters, which offer new possibilities in both combat and exploration.
Fatal Frame 2 completely revamped, from graphics to audio
The remake is not just a lukewarm refresh: character models, light and shadow effects, and sound design have been completely redesigned. In addition, there is a 3D sound system that makes the presence of ghosts in the room palpable. Another new feature is the “take Mayu by the hand” mechanic, which makes the emotional bond between the sisters more tangible.
