Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust - Scenario Trailer Shows a Fiery Threat to New Edinburgh
Frostpunk 2 will receive its second major expansion on June 23, 2026: Breach of Trust puts you, as First Citizen, in the midst of a volcanic crisis and puts your political survival to the test.
Frostpunk 2 is a dark survival strategy game from 11 bit studios, in which, as the leader of a metropolis in a post-apocalyptic frozen world, you must battle not only the cold and resource shortages but also the political factions in the council chamber. This blend of city-builder and political simulator challenges you to make tough decisions, constantly asking: What are you willing to sacrifice?
A Trial by Fire for Strategists
With the expansion Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust, 11 bit studios radically flips the usual threat scenario on its head. Instead of an eternal frost wind, this time a volcano threatens your makeshift structures: The new scenario takes place in New Edinburgh, a city that powered its generator with geothermal energy—until its reckless hunger for energy destabilized the underground. Now the ground is shaking, volcanic ash darkens the sky, and the former captain has long since been deposed.
As First Citizen, you take the lead during the crisis. Periodic confidence votes measure your popularity. Whoever loses the support of the people will share the fate of their predecessor. In addition to the new environmental mechanics—earthquakes and “Night of the Volcano”—the add-on introduces five new communities and factions with their own ideologies, two new scenario maps, new laws, and five buildings. You’ll also have to manage your relationship with the nearby colony of Aurora—through trade, blackmail, or conquest. Frostpunk’s not dead!
Breach of Trust will be released on June 23, 2026. According to the release time infographic from publisher 11 bit studios, it will be available at 6am PT / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST. At the same time, all owners of the base game will receive a free update. You can purchase Breach of Trust separately—or upgrade your Frostpunk 2 to the Deluxe Edition of the game. In that case, Breach of Trust is already included in the package, along with the first expansion, Fractured Utopias.
