LEGO MARVEL: Super Heroes 2 takes us on a Tme Traveling Adventure!
I am Baby Groot! LEGO Marvel: Super Heroes 2 heading our way in November with a time-traveling story that's out of this world.
Last week it was revealed the we'd be getting sequel to possibly the best LEGO title in existence (unless you're talking about LEGO Islands) with the news that LEGO MARVEL: Super Heroes 2 would be coming to PC and Consoles in November. Now we get our first look at a proper trailer which shows the Guardians and various other heroes fight back against various enemies. The game itself will take place after the events of the first game with the Guardians arriving on Earth. It will feature the massive hub world Chronopolis and take us to various places in the Marvel Universe (and time itself) as we travel to Ancient Egypt, The Old West, Sakaar, New York City in 2099 to stop the time-travelling Kang the Conqueror.
Lead Designer Arthur Parsons mentioned a little about what players can expect with the sequel:
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 was always meant to be about something else. We’re back with an original story set inside the world of some of my personal favorite comic runs, but with a much more diverse roster of characters.”
The sequel will fit together with the original as the opening level has the Guadians in space trying to make their way to Earth, where the last game left off this will complete the circle. While you don't need to have played the original it will give players a nice little throwback.
They're upping the stakes this time as LEGO MARVEL: Super Heroes 2 will allow players to use and manipulate time during the game. The story will see you take on the time traveler Kang the Conqueror to put a stop to his plans for domination, as you explore the galaxy you will be able to call upon heroes from history to aid you in the fight. Time will be the key factor in the gameplay and you can expect some crazy moments to ensue.
It's something that you can use as a player and something that will be used against you when you come face to face with Kang and other enemies. We really wanted this game to be all about time. Characters running out of time, characters coming from different time periods, things being manipulated in time, so we have a lot of time manipulation in the game.
If time wasn't enough, it's been revealed the game will also support 4 player battle modes (much like LEGO Dimensions) using all the characters from the game to best their friends in a fight.
Like the original, you can expect a wide range of characters to pick from (though just how many is yet to be confirmed). One of the newest arrivals is Star-Lord who can use his Walkman to pause time in combat and allow him to plan his attack. It can also allow him to dance with the other members of the Guardians (we can't wait to see a Baby Groot dance).
He's also got a really cool suit that lets him play his mixtape. So it's really cool when you're in the middle of the battle [and] everyone just stops and dances.
LEGO MARVEL: Super Heroes 2 will be releasing on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch on November 17th (though the trailer points to a Nov 14th release, but this might be a US date).
