Halo: Campaign Evolved - 28 Minutes of Gameplay from “Assault on the Control Room”
Halo: Campaign Evolved has released a 28-minute gameplay video for the “Assault on the Control Room” mission—featuring new vehicle mechanics and an expanded arsenal of weapons from the remake, which is set to be released on July 28th.
Anyone who’s ever had their feet get cold playing Halo is sure to be familiar with the “Assault on the Control Room” mission. The developers have now chosen this very mission as the flagship for the upcoming remake Halo: Campaign Evolved, showcasing a full 28 minutes of gameplay from the snow-covered, fiercely contested area.
Why this mission, of all things?
It’s no coincidence: In the original, “Assault on the Control Room” featured just about every weapon and vehicle that Halo: Combat Evolved had to offer. Close-quarters firefights, stealth sections, and vehicle battles through snow-covered canyons and underground facilities—it’s all there. For the remake, this makes the mission the perfect showcase to demonstrate just how much Halo: Campaign Evolved adds to the original without changing its core.
In the gameplay video, you'll see how the redesigned snowy landscape can be combined with new features like boarding enemy vehicles and an expanded arsenal of weapons. In terms of the story, you'll accompany Master Chief and Cortana on a risky airborne assault into an underground Forerunner facility. The goal is the eponymous control room, which oversees the fate of the ringworld structure Alpha Halo—and there, you’ll find plenty of answers to the great Halo mystery.
