Helldivers 2: Trailer introduces the story - Starship Troopers sends its regards
Impressive graphics, promising co-op gameplay, humorous storyline - is Helldivers 2 perhaps not hell but heaven for shooter fans?
Swedish development studio Arrowhead Studios and publisher PlayStation PC LLC are releasing a special kind of action spectacle on February 8th 2024: In the third-person shooter sequel Helldivers 2, you shoot for freedom and democracy in various locations in the galaxy as the eponymous 'Helldivers', not just for the 'over-Earth', but for the entire universe. Depending on the planet they are travelling to, they face various opponents. Mainly Terminids, insect-like monsters that look quite similar to those from Starship Troopers. And act just as aggressively.
In Helldivers 2, you are the last line of attack in the galaxy, the cornerstone of the civilised world. The following story trailer, which is once again reminiscent of Starship Troopers in terms of its narrative style, also tells of this. Which is absolutely no bad thing: anyone who can relate to the humour of Verhoeven's film should also be happy with Helldivers 2. But at the end of the day, in a shooter that can be played in co-op in teams of four, it's the action-packed, sometimes tactical gameplay that counts anyway - which has already whetted the appetite for more in previous trailers. Visually, Helldivers 2 is already extremely successful and the special co-op features in particular should ensure long-term motivation. We are looking forward to the test results from the specialised press in the coming days.
