Like a Dragon: Ishin! comes to PC in February 2023!
Originally called Yakuza: Ishin! (also Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!) for Playstation 4 since 2014, the action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will soon be available here in the West with the title Like a Dragon: Ishin! SEGA expects to have the remake ready early next year with a release date of February 2023. Fans have been waiting for this moment for a long time - and now the game, which was originally only available in Japanese, is also coming to us as a significantly improved remake. Localised and technically upgraded. Last night, the remake was presented for the first time at Sony's State of Play event.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! takes you back to the year 1860, to Kyo, which is supposed to be a freely invented version of Kyoto. As Sakamoto Ryoma you take up the katana, because in Like a Dragon: Ishin! you can experience samurai culture in all its glory. But this is not a completely fictional story: Ishin! describes real events of the time with the adventures of Ryoma. Sakamoto Ryoma is regarded as a pioneer of the Meiji Restoration and the abolition of the Shōgunat that accompanied it.
In the development of Like a Dragon: Ishin! the studio is using the Unreal Engine 4, which is a novelty in terms of the possibilities and previous Yakuza games. The remake will be much more effective than the original and will have its finger on the pulse of the times graphically. Though it remains to be seen if the game will able to compete with their in-house Dragon Engine that was used for the previous game.
