Lords of the Fallen 2: SGF Gameplay Teaser and 40-Minute Deep Dive with the Developers

At Summer Game Fest 2026, CI Games unveiled a new gameplay teaser for Lords of the Fallen 2—and today followed it up with a 40-minute developer deep dive.

The dark Souls-like sequel to Lords of the Fallen is slowly taking shape: In the latest episode of the “Lifting the Veil” developer series, the Hexworks team took the community behind the scenes of “The Battle for Thorngar”—for nearly 40 minutes. During the session, the developers answered questions about replayability, the Umbral system, and the combat design, which is set to become noticeably faster and more brutal in the sequel, Lords of the Fallen 2.

Katanas, Co-op, and New Biomes

In addition to the SGF gameplay teaser, a number of specific features have been confirmed: Lords of the Fallen 2 will launch on Steam on day one, offers full shared progress in co-op mode, and introduces new biomes as well as dynamic world events. This is especially good news for anyone who likes to swiftly cut through enemies: The katana weapon class makes its debut in the game. Fast, precise, and apparently added at the community’s express request.

In the sequel, you once again take on the role of an Umbral Lantern Bearer fighting your way through the parallel realms of Axiom—this time in a world engulfed by Umbral darkness a thousand years after the Great Rupture.
