Big surprise hit: Action RPG Metaphor ReFantazio gets 92% on Metacritic - Review Roundup

Oops, the release of SEGA's new action RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio is just a few days away, on October 11. No hype in the run-up - but that's all about to change. The first top ratings are in.

And suddenly a new highlight in the action RPG genre is shining. Metaphor: ReFantazio, distributed by SEGA and developed by Studio Zero/ATLUS, currently has a score of 92% (PC) on Metacritic - the PS5 version is even at 94%. What's going on? Why was Metaphor so under the radar before? Real professionals are involved in the development, namely the people who are also responsible for the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. This can be seen in the JRPG, for example in the trailer for the playable demo, which you can try out directly on Steam.

There you control a hero who wants to prevent an impending apocalypse.Within a turn-based combat system that is similar to that of Persona, but is intended to be more complex and strategic. In the open game world and in the towns, you will meet many other characters, relationships between them play an important role and your decisions also have an impact on the course of the story. The illustration style of Shigenori Soejima (Persona) is unmistakable. Composer Shoji Meguro (Persona, Shin Megami Tensei) provides the appropriate background music.
