Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: Stability updates, third-party add-ons and new features in December
Microsoft recently announced some important updates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in a blog post. These mainly concern stability improvements and the resolution of problems that have arisen in recent weeks. Now let's take a look at the latest developments and what you can expect in the upcoming patches.
Server problems fixed
Jörg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, speaks out in a blog post about the development of MS Flight Simulator 2024. The studio has massively increased server capacity to cope with the high demand. Now the server reliability for MSFS24 is at 99.999%, which means that the simulator is more stable and the access problems have largely been resolved.
Hotfix 1 and planned updates for December
Hotfix 1 was released on November 22nd, bringing with it many stability improvements. But this is just the beginning, as Xbox Game Studios explains: Players can expect another update for the week commencing December 2nd, followed by a major patch the week commencing December 9th. This patch will not only offer more bug fixes, but also new features and performance improvements.
Problems with third-party add-ons from MSFS 2020
Another issue that is causing problems for some players are third-party add-ons that have been imported from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 into the new simulator. Some of these add-ons cause significant errors and prevent access to the game. To address these issues, Microsoft has decided to temporarily disable all content from MSFS20 until the cause of the issues is fully identified.
New functions in the December update
From December 9th, there will be an update that allows players to activate or deactivate content themselves. In addition, a safe start mode will be introduced to help deactivate problematic add-ons in the event of crashes.
With these updates, Microsoft is ensuring that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will become more stable and user-friendly at an early stage. You can view the original blog post on the current patch situation here.
