Gamesplanet Advent Sale 2017 Begins!

Winter is coming, and to celebrate that we've got our first round of Advent Weekend deals for you. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY (Open World Action)

J. R. R. Tolkien has provided us with a great fantasy world in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit book, as well as the movies based on each. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a third person action game which was created by Monolith (best known for work on the F.E.A.R. games). You play as Talion, who was once a ranger and is now forced to get revenge for his family, so he teams up with the undead elf Celebrimbor to fight back. The game features some fast paced action as you slice apart Orcs at will, though they may decide to hold a grudge against you and become stronger by defeating you thanks to the game's Nemesis System.

The world of Middle-earth really comes to life, as you explore a huge open world that is filled with plenty to do and you're able to access certain fast travel points known as "Forge Towers" - or you can use beasts to get around the world faster. As you progress with the story you'll uncover more missions that tell the tale of your revenge, plus you can take on side quests that may offer up rewards - including meeting some known Lord of the Rings characters! Talion can either take on missions in stealth or take enemies head on with a focus on supernatural abilities and deadly weapon attacks.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience (Open World / Stealth / Action / Third Person Shooter)

The Metal Gear franchise has been going since the late 80's and the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience brings the series to PC for the first time! Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience is made up of Metal Gear V Ground Zeroes, which is prequel to Metal Gear V Phantom Pain and involves Big Boss infiltrating a facility to rescue his friends who are being held by the paramilitary force XOF. Though a limited section to play with, you're given a night time setting that can be done either Stealthy or by going in full force to extract them.

Metal Gear Phantom Pain is where the real fun begins, this is a large open world game that takes place after the events of Ground Zeroes. Big Boss awakens 9 years later in a hospital bed, and it's not long before he's leading the Diamond Dogs aboard his own Mother Base Oil Rig - which can be later customised/upgraded to allow a larger force and also be used in infiltrating other bases. Missions take as "episodes", that can be done in almost any order (though some unlocking is required to progress further). Using the FOX engine, the world comes alive as a large desert is your sandbox and Big Boss can find new side missions within the world. You can also get companions to help you out, such as the lovely sniper Quiet or the faithful Dog DD - each has their own unique abilities to help out in combat.

Darksiders Franchise Pack (Action RPG Hack and Slash)

The Darksiders games are considered to be some of the best Action Hack and Slash games on PC, with many citing them as "Zelda" like thanks to great level design and combat with various weapons/items at your disposal. Darksiders tells the tale of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse who was sent to Earth to prevent Hell from bringing an end to the world. Using powerful weapons War is able to unleash some serious damage on his enemies in his quest for vengeance.

Along the way he'll meet up with various characters to aide him against the forces of darkness, as well as unlocking more abilities and weapons as he progresses further into the story in a metroidvania style adventure. Darksiders II continues the story and puts you in control of War's Brother Death, another of the Four Horsemen. Much like the original game Death has his own kind of weapons and abilities, this time round he is able to find and equip items/weapons that are looted from fallen enemies.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Action / Fighting / Anime / Multiplayer)

For years Dragon Ball games were almost forgotten about on PC, with many of us having to rely on popular Dragon Ball mods to fill the void. Thanks to DIMPs and Bandai Namco though we were given our first "online" experience when Dragon Ball Xenoverse launched in 2015. You play as a new character that is recruited by Trunks into the Time Patrol, who are responsible for keeping the time lines in check. Unfortunately it appears that a mysterious force has been corrupting the Dragon Ball timelines and it will be up to you to restore history back to what it was.

You'll team up with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and more as you relive some of the best moments from the series. Thanks to a great Art Style it feels like you're watching the show as animations and voice acting is exactly like it is in the series (some slight changes though). The game has a great fighting system, you can customise your moves and special abilities - spend points to tweak your character to your liking and pick one of 5 races for your character to customise. It also features an online hub that can be used to interact with others, or take the battle online in the multiplayer portion of the game. There's also side quests that can be done outside of the main story that allow you to team up with others to acquire new items or gear.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate (Open World Action Game)

We've had some great settings for the Assassin's Creed franchise, exploring Rome, the Caribbean and recently we ventured to Egypt. Syndicate takes place in London 1868 during the industrial period and the city is brought to life with a great open world. For the first time in the franchise you play as two characters, the Frye Twins Jacob and Evie - each with their own playstyle and abilities.

At the core it's still an Assassin's Creed game but it adds a few new mechanics to keep things fresh, one of them is a new grapple that can be used to get from rooftop to rooftop easier to make exploring London easier. Speaking of London it's the perfect setting for an Assassin's Creed game and visiting the landmarks such as Big Ben are a treat to behold. You will meet up with historical figures such as Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin and many others during the story.

The game is a breath of fresh air in the franchise, and ranks among the best Assassin's Creed games ever made. You can get Assassin's Creed Syndicate for 57% off this weekend!
