New Games of the Week – The Gamesplanet Highlights

The stage is set: with Transport Fever 3, developer Urban Games is launching the next instalment in the popular tycoon series. Build your own transport empires across rail, road, water and air, whilst controlling over 300 faithfully recreated trains, buses, trams, lorries, ships, aeroplanes and, for the first time, helicopters. The map generation has been completely overhauled: Four different environments, ranging from the tundra to the jungle, ensure plenty of variety across the regions, whilst an authentic day-night cycle with dynamic lighting has been introduced for the first time. Fans of challenging economic simulations with plenty of building materials will find over a century of transport history to explore here, complemented by a single-player campaign. From the creators of Cloudpunk comes Nivalis Nights, the next journey into a neon metropolis of the future – this time, however, as a true-to-form cyberpunk life simulation. Start with a modest noodle stall and gradually build up a thriving business, be it a restaurant or a nightclub – you can source ingredients from the market or grow and fish for them yourself. In between, you’ll have time to furnish your own flat high above the clouds, get to know the city’s quirky inhabitants, and strike up friendships or even romances – provided the pressure from the corporate security forces leaves you any breathing space. The voxel-based visuals from Cloudpunk remain, but have been refined to create a denser, more vibrant city.

After a seven-year hiatus, the aerial combat icon takes to the skies once more: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve sends you back to the fictional world of Strangereal, where the Federation of Central Usea has been occupied and its military dismantled. As an ace pilot, you’ll fight alongside the Joker Squadron in an emotionally compelling campaign centred on identity and the liberation of your homeland. Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and a specially developed cloud and weather technology, the game promises the most impressive visuals the series has ever seen. Anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe Edition on Gamesplanet can climb into the cockpit and take off as early as 29 September thanks to Advanced Access – three days before the standard release.
