New games of the week – The Gamesplanet highlights

Genre: Simulation / Management | Release date: 13 October 2026
Seven years after the original, Frontiers’ zoo-building game returns: Planet Zoo 2 expands on the formula with, amongst other things, two features that its predecessor never offered: fully aquatic and flying animal species. You’ll build freshwater and saltwater aquariums as well as aviaries, and look after visitors, staff and the wellbeing of your animals. Another new feature is the focus on conservation: through global projects, you can release animals into large, freely customisable wildlife reserves, thereby securing research benefits for your zoo. Four new scenery themes and five returning themes from the first game provide plenty of building components, using blueprints or the tried-and-tested piece-by-piece tools. Planet Zoo 2 will be available on Gamesplanet upon release.

Explore the world in the golden age of offroading. Drive iconic 4x4 vehicles from the 60s to 80s by yourself or with friends through chal...

Genre: Off-road / Co-op | Release date: 14 October 2026
Leisurely rather than fast-paced: over the hill comes from the developer of art of rally and is explicitly a driving game, not a racing game. You’ll explore a vast wilderness of forests, lakes and mountains, based on real-world locations, and drive off-road vehicles inspired by classic 4x4 overlanders from the 1960s to the 1980s. Alone or with up to three friends in online co-op, you’ll overcome obstacles using planks, winches and the right kit. Add to that dynamic weather, day-night cycles, wildlife to photograph for your compendium, and plenty of customisation options for your vehicle. Anticipation is huge: over 1.2 million Steam wishlists and more than 500,000 demo downloads speak for themselves.

Genre: Action | Release date: 15 October 2026
Konami is cracking the whip again: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a new 2D spin-off in the long-running series, set in the year 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III. You take on the role of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, and fight your way through the burning streets of Paris, the catacombs and Dracula’s menacing castle. The legendary Vampire Killer whip serves not only as a weapon, but also for swinging and exploring, and there are additional weapons and abilities to utilise. The game is being developed jointly by Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin (Dead Cells). The renowned illustrator Katsuya Terada is also contributing specially commissioned illustrations to the game. Available on Gamesplanet as a Steam key for 17-20%!
