Portal recreated on an Apple II from the 1970's
Forget calculators, all you need to run the 2007 hit Portal is an Apple II from the 70's as someone manages to recreate Valve's beloved game in full retro vision!
Vince Weaver is an assistant professor at the University of Main's Electrical and Computing Engineering department, his love of Portal has allowed him to reverse engineer a version of the Valve game using an Apple II! While the game doesn't have 3D, it does capture the essence of what Portal is. Featuring GlADOS and Chell, you'll be taking on various moments from the game (including the epic final battle scene between both characters).
We've come a long way since the Apple II days, but it's still nice to see people appreciating what made classic hardware great and with all the recent remakes being launched, it's a change of pace seeing demakes popping up for our favourite games.
Plus what recreation of Portal would be complete without a lovely 8 bit rendition of 'Still Alive', if you fancy giving this 8bit delight a test for yourself you can do so here. I wonder if he will recreate Portal 2 on the Apple II next? ;)
