Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience (Open World / Stealth / Action / Third Person Shooter)
The Metal Gear franchise has been going since the late 80's and the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience brings the series to PC for the first time! Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience is made up of Metal Gear V Ground Zeroes, which is prequel to Metal Gear V Phantom Pain and involves Big Boss infiltrating a facility to rescue his friends who are being held by the paramilitary force XOF. Though a limited section to play with, you're given a night time setting that can be done either Stealthy or by going in full force to extract them. Metal Gear Phantom Pain is where the real fun begins, this is a large open world game that takes place after the events of Ground Zeroes. Big Boss awakens 9 years later in a hospital bed, and it's not long before he's leading the Diamond Dogs aboard his own Mother Base Oil Rig - which can be later customised/upgraded to allow a larger force and also be used in infiltrating other bases. Missions take as "episodes", that can be done in almost any order (though some unlocking is required to progress further). Using the FOX engine, the world comes alive as a large desert is your sandbox and Big Boss can find new side missions within the world. You can also get companions to help you out, such as the lovely sniper Quiet or the faithful Dog DD - each has their own unique abilities to help out in combat.

Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition (First Person Shooter / Multiplayer / Open World / Action)
What would you get if you crossed a role playing game with a first person shooter? The result would be Borderlands, and the sequel in the series Borderlands 2 takes things to the next level. As you start the game you'll pick one of several classes, each with their own unique talent trees and special abilities. The story will see you trying to stop Handsome Jack from discovering another Vault on Pandora, which contains a deadly threat to the planet. You can play the game either online with others, or you can take on the game solo. Whichever route you decide to go with the game offers a massive open world that has plenty of quests and secrets hidden away within it. Featuring a great cast of characters, from the lovable but crazy Claptrap, to the mechanical genius of Scooter and even the likes of Tiny Tina, who can be best described as a genius who has escaped from an asylum. One of the biggest features the game has it the ability to locate new weapons, which drop from various enemies/given as quest rewards and can be traded with another player. The game of the year edition brings with it some fantastic DLC expansions, including the Tiny Tina DLC that pokes fun at Dungeons and Dragons/Fantasy in a refreshing twist to the main game.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Action / Fighting / Anime / Multiplayer)
For years Dragon Ball games were almost forgotten about on PC, with many of us having to rely on popular Dragon Ball mods to fill the void. Thanks to DIMPs and Bandai Namco though we were given our first "online" experience when Dragon Ball Xenoverse launched in 2015. You play as a new character that is recruited by Trunks into the Time Patrol, who are responsible for keeping the time lines in check. Unfortunately it appears that a mysterious force has been corrupting the Dragon Ball timelines and it will be up to you to restore history back to what it was. You'll team up with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and more as you relive some of the best moments from the series. Thanks to a great Art Style it feels like you're watching the show as animations and voice acting is exactly like it is in the series (some slight changes though). The game has a great fighting system, you can customise your moves and special abilities - spend points to tweak your character to your liking and pick one of 5 races for your character to customise. It also features an online hub that can be used to interact with others, or take the battle online in the multiplayer portion of the game. There's also side quests that can be done outside of the main story that allow you to team up with others to acquire new items or gear.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Open World / RPG / Action)
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... BioWare gave birth to one of the best Star Wars games ever created when the Action RPG Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic launched in 2003. Now almost 15 years later the game is still among one the best RPG's ever made thanks to it's great combat (though perhaps a bit dated by today's standards), fantastic story and massive open world planets to explore. One of the highlights of the game is the story, and is set 4000 years prior to any Star Wars movie. You awake aboard a ship that's under attack and with no memory of your past, during the game you'll be able to customise your character the way you want and using points you're able to specialise in various powers/abilities that shape your story. You're given plenty of freedom and are able to take multiple paths into the story, whether you decide to be good or turn to the dark side. The sequel also expands further on the game with better combat, new quests, new characters, plantets and more. Recently, KOTOR 2 was even updated on PC to support modern hardware and it looks even more great than it did back in the day. This is a must have for any Star Wars or RPG fan.

Batman Arkham City GOTY (Action / Open World / Batman)
Batman Arkham City is the second entry in the highly popular Dark Knight open world action game, taking place after the events of Asylum things do not look great for our hero who is thrown inside Arkham City - a locked City that is filled with all of the worst kinds of criminals that Gotham has seen. Everything about being Batman is represented in great detail, from gliding around the open world to using his range of gadgets to help him solve puzzles or take down enemies. Combat is free flowing and you can chain together some great moves while mixing things up by using counters at the push of a button to stave off damage, which can be easy to learn but takes some practice to master combos! The game has a range of great characters that you'll meet, such as The Joker, Penguin, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy and even Catwoman - who is a playable character for certain sections of the game. As well as great combat, a fantastic open world and top notch voice acting you also have Riddler puzzles littered throughout the city which test your detective skills in new ways. Simply put, Arkham City GOTY is one of the best Arkham games ever created and for the price you'll get a fantastic Batman experience!

Hidden Gem of the Day
Far Cry 3 (Open World / First Person Shooter / Action)
Lastly it's time for our Hidden Gem of the day, today that belongs to the open world mayhem of Far Cry 3. The game sees a group of friends taking a holiday on an Island, unfortunately for the group it seems that the Island is home to the crazed pirate leader Vass. What makes the game come to life is the stunning open world setting, as a first person game you're free to explore the entire Island and meet wildlife, characters and hidden treasures. You can gain new skills and abilities by playing the game, upgrading your equipment by skinning various animals that lurk in the forests and rivers on the Island. As you explore more of the map you will uncover outposts that can be liberated and give you a hold over Vaas as you try to rescue your friends from his grasp. Located on the Island are "Radio Towers" which can be used to open up more of the map and give you access new weapons in the shop. Take on missions either as Stealth, or go in with guns blazing to take down a mission objective. There's also a multiplayer mode and Co-op - though these are not the main highlight of the game but offer a break from the single player.
