Railway Empire 2 - Steel Dragons: DLC brings China setting
The new Railway Empire 2 DLC, Steel Dragons, takes you to China with new locomotives, regional goods and three fully voiced scenarios. The map can be played as a whole or in separate regions.
That's right, the new ‘China’ map can be played either as one large area or in five separate regions. The action is complemented by three fully voiced scenarios (‘Humble Beginnings’, 1880, ‘Journey to the West’, 1890 and ‘Of Bicycles and Fireworks’, 1900) – adding plenty of historical flair to Railway Empire 2 with the new Steel Dragons DLC.
In this expansion, players take on the role of Zhan Tianyou, considered the ‘father of Chinese railways,’ whose dedication had a significant impact on the development of the rail network.
In the first scenario of Steel Dragons, ‘Humble Beginnings’ (1880), you start in eastern China and first ensure that basic rail connections and supply chains are established. In ‘Journey to the West’ (1890), the focus shifts to the interior of the country, where you have to develop new industries and cover greater distances. Finally, ‘Of Bicycles and Fireworks’ (1900) depicts the transition to a denser, more modern network.
The eight new Chinese locomotives, including well-known models such as the ‘Shènglí 8’ and the ‘Rocket of China’, also add to the authentic flair. In addition, over twenty regional goods complement the economic system, including silk, bamboo, fireworks, gunpowder and traditional medicine.
Also new for Railway Empire 2: Update 1.8
Parallel to the new DLC Steel Dragons, the developers have also rolled out the update with the version number 1.8. The patch primarily brings useful convenience features to the game. Production chains in factories can now be changed much more easily, and industrial areas in cities can be reserved in future. The display of direction arrows on train lines has also been made more flexible and can now be shown or hidden as desired.
The update is rounded off by several bug fixes, including icon displays and save states, as well as minor corrections for existing DLCs. If you would like to know more about Update 1.8, you can find the complete patch notes over at the Kalypso publisher website.
