Resident Evil 4 Remake: The best of the Resident Evil Showcase 2022 - all new trailers
Finally, the time has come as Capcom showed off the Resident Evil 4 remake in detail during the Resident Evil Showcase livestream. And even more exciting is that the game has a release date of March 24th 2023!
But not only the modernised Resident Evil 4 Remake was the topic of the showcase: The Winters' Expansion for Resident Evil Village and the multiplayer spin-off Resident Evil Re:Verse were also topics of the show. In this post you can find all the important new trailers and a link to the recording of the livestream event.
Resident Evil 4 Remake: Capcom shows what remakes should look like
Released in 2005, Resident Evil 4 for PlayStation 2 has a fantastic Metascore of 96/100 on Metacritic. Many gamers consider the action adventure the best Resident Evil ever. So it's no wonder that Capcom is trying to make a contemporary remake - it already worked well with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. The showcase has already shown: The new Resident Evil 4 no longer exudes any old-age pong - the development studio has not only adapted the graphics to current possibilities, but also tightened the screws in the right places and added important, fresh gameplay elements. Here is the new (second) trailer for the Resident Evil 4 remake presented at the showcase.
Sure, this was more story trailer than gameplay trailer. But what a technical leap! If you want to see more gameplay from the Resident Evil 4 remake, you should also check out producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi's showcase presentation. The man shows the first minutes from the game as we will experience it ourselves in March 2023. You can see not only how to use the inventory system, which is of particular importance not only because of the lack of ammunition typical of Resident Evil, but also the combat system in action. Protagonist Leon S. Kennedy can not only shoot at enemies - in future, RE4 will offer additional combat and defence manoeuvres that were not available before. Leon deflects melee attacks and can send enemies into the final afterlife with a targeted knife attack. But the Ganados now also have more to offer.
To go directly to the Resident Evil 4 gameplay showcase, you should skip to minute 43:00 in the showcase clip. The attack with the chainsaw - simply fantastically staged!
Resident Evil Village Winters' Expansion and RE Village Gold
Without a doubt, Resident Evil Village is also a cracking good Resident Evil. Work on the title is also far from finished. In just a few days, on October 28th 2022, the first major expansion for Resident Evil Village will be released, the Winters' Expansion, which is also part of the Gold Edition of the main game that will soon be available. This is a larger story adventure that sometimes shifts the focus to the playable protagonists.
In "Shadows of Rose", for example, we experience the new content from the point of view of Ethan's daughter Rose, who was still part of the horror show as a baby worth protecting in Resident Evil Village and has grown up in the meantime. Even Lady Dimitrescu is to be playable for the first time with the Winters' expansion. And Capcom is also giving Resident Evil Village a brand new third-person camera perspective for the main story. Beautiful backs can be charming - so take a look at the new Village story trailer now, starring Rose.
Resident Evil Re:Verse
Those who have Resident Evil Village in their game library will also have free access to the multiplayer spin-off Resident Evil Re:Verse. Re:Verse is also finally scheduled to launch on October 28th, but before that with an Early Access phase starting on 24 Oct (3am BST) and ending on 26 Oct at 7am. Capcom will stick to Resident Evil Re:Verse in the future. Further updates with new content are planned after release. Challenges, stages, creatures and much more will add to the replay value in the future.
Those who want to participate in the multiplayer of Resident Evil Re:Verse must register with a Capcom ID and then enjoy the cross-play functions with players from other platforms. You don't own Resident Evil Village and therefore RE Re:Verse? No problem, you can purchase Re:Verse separately from 28.10.2022 on Gamesplanet. You can enjoy the launch trailer for the multiplayer Resident Evil in advance.
Both the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, and the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake will soon be available on Gamesplanet to purchase.
