Resident Evil Requiem: Story expansion confirmed – plus photo mode and a minigame

Resident Evil director Koshi Nakanishi has addressed the community in a video message, announcing several new additions for Resident Evil Requiem — including an official story expansion.

With more than five million copies sold in just a few weeks, Resident Evil Requiem has had an impressive start. Since its release on February 27, Capcom’s latest survival-horror title has clearly captured the attention of the community. Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi has now released a personal video message to thank fans — and he didn’t come empty-handed, bringing along several pieces of good news.

Photo mode, minigame, and more updates

First, the smaller but welcome announcements: a photo mode is coming to the game soon, although Nakanishi did not provide a specific release date yet. A good decision, even if it arrives a little late. Anyone who has already reached the endgame areas will likely have missed the chance to capture some of the game’s stunning moments in photos (let’s just say “golden staircase”).

If you prefer something more gameplay-focused, a surprise minigame is planned for May. Capcom is still keeping the details under wraps. What could it be? Perhaps a horde-style mode where you face an endless wave of infected enemies?

The team is also continuing to work on bug fixes and performance optimizations following a recent update addressing several issues.

Story expansion officially in development

The real highlight of the announcement came at the end of Nakanishi’s message. Along with a few teaser images — described as a small “appetizer” — he confirmed that a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is officially in development. The additional content is expected to dive deeper into the world of Requiem.

No release date has been announced yet, and Nakanishi asked the community for patience while the team continues development.

If you don’t have a key for Resident Evil Requiem yet, now might be a good time — the game looks set to keep players busy for quite a while.
