What is Returnal?

Returnal is a sci-fi third-person shooter by Housemarque and will finally be released for PC by Sony Interactive Entertainment on February 15th. The original console version on PlayStation 5 won over the press and gamers worldwide - Returnal received several high ratings, including many with at least 90 out of 100 points.

In Returnal, your action adventure revolves around the astronaut Selene, who is stranded on an alien planet called Atropos and trapped in a time loop. Typical of a crunchy roguelike, our protagonist must die over and over again and start her journey all over again in order to grow from her tasks and ultimately have more firepower in her weapons locker. Players must guide Selene through the dangerous landscapes of Atropos to learn more about the mysterious world and her own past.

Returnal is a roguelike game, which means it presents you with randomly generated levels - so the challenge is a new one almost every time you try it. Each time the player starts the game, a unique map is generated. In addition, there are many different weapons and items that you will find during the game. This makes the next playthrough a little easier for you. The focus is on fast and fluid action, with players reacting and dodging quickly to escape enemy attacks. The combination of the unique story and dynamic gameplay makes Returnal an action-packed experience.

On the review platform OpenCritic, the console original has scored a whopping 86 points, with 90% of reviewers recommending the game.

Returnal PC System Requirements

You can play Returnal on PC from February 15th 2023. Logically, our PC version comes with additional features. No question, Returnal offers state-of-the-art graphics. And this is reflected in the requirements. But if you want to enjoy the game with high 4K resolution and ray tracing, you need the appropriate hardware (or experiment with the DLSS settings). Sony specifies these PC system requirements for Returnal:
