Tomb Raider Movie Reboot shows off First Image of Lara Croft and details plot!

Lara Croft is returning to the big screen in 2018 with the rebooted Tomb Raider movie, get your first look at how she's being brought to life.

When it comes to video-game adaptations we've had some really awful ones out there, the Super Mario Bros film stands as one of the worst in history but that doesn't mean all game to movie franchises have been bad. Some films that have managed to make it work, like the recent Warcraft movie represented the universe in which it was drawing inspiration from while had some mixed opinions by the critics, did manage to please at least the fans of the games. Now is the time for the most recent Tomb Raider (2013) game to be recreated on the big screen as the upcoming Tomb Raider movie will draw elements from both the 2013 game and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

You can get your first look at Alicia Vikander playing Lara Croft in the movie, which actually looks very close to the game so I am excited to see what they're going to be doing with the movie.

Additionally the plot outline for the movie has been revealed, as you'd expect it has elements of both the rebooted games and involves Lara traveling to an Island off the coast of Japan (I wonder if we'll see any Ancient Samurai) in search of a hidden tomb (because it would be silly not to have a tomb right?). While it does sound like it is nearly the same as the game reboot, we should expect to see some changes as the final movie approaches.

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone.

Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.
