Ruiner 2 announced: Reikon Games returns to Rengkok with a cyberpunk action RPG
Reikon Games has officially announced Ruiner 2. The sequel to the cult shooter from 2017 evolves into a cyberpunk action RPG featuring the innovative Shell System and co-op for up to three players.
This announcement certainly won’t ruin your day: almost a decade after the original, Reikon Games returns with news that fans of the Polish indie studio have been waiting for — Ruiner 2 is officially in development. The announcement trailer showcases the megacity of Rengkok in all its brutal glory and makes it clear that the sequel aims to be significantly bigger than its predecessor.
From shooter to action RPG
The first Ruiner was a hard-hitting top-down shooter with a striking cyberpunk aesthetic. Ruiner 2 keeps the fast and uncompromising combat feel but builds a full action RPG system on top of it — essentially a cyberpunk-style upgrade for the existing IP. At the center of Ruiner 2 is the so-called Shell System: you take on the role of a hacker who defeats enemy bosses and then turns them into playable combat bodies — the so-called Shells. In single-player mode, you can carry up to three Shells at once and switch between them in real time.
Synergy gameplay and no pay-to-win
Each Shell comes with its own abilities, playstyles, and progression. Players who cleverly link the synergies between different Shells can trigger cascading combos that no single character could achieve alone. The game also introduces a crafting system with real risk: the further you push items, the higher the chance of unexpected changes. Reikon Games has also explicitly confirmed a no-pay-to-win policy — all gameplay-relevant advantages must be earned through play.
In co-op mode, up to three players can team up and combine their Shells into a shared roster — six Shells, one team, maximum chaos.
