Silent Hill: Townfall - Pilotpriest Composes the Soundtrack for the Horror Comeback

Konami and developer Screen Burn reveal Pilotpriest as the composer for Silent Hill: Townfall - and provide a first preview of his music.

With the Canadian musician and filmmaker Anthony Scott Burns, better known as Pilotpriest, the horror adventure Silent Hill: Townfall has found a composer who clearly hasn’t just known and loved the series since yesterday. Fans of both the games and Pilotpriest’s music will immediately recognize this as a perfect match. Director and writer Jon McKellan from developer Screen Burn has now explained in a detailed developer update how the collaboration came about – and why it felt like a natural fit from the very beginning.

Music Meets Horror: Pilotpriest Takes Over

Burns is no stranger to the film world: as a director, film composer, and visual artist, he has already made a name for himself. For Townfall, he brings exactly that sense for atmospheric soundscapes that has always defined the Silent Hill series. His greatest inspiration: Akira Yamaoka, whose soundtracks for the early entries in the series set the standard. In a statement, Burns himself describes how strongly Yamaoka-san influenced his artistic development and how he didn’t hesitate when the opportunity arose to compose for Silent Hill: Townfall.

The result of this passion can already be heard in the new video: the track "Home" accompanies footage from in-game locations in the town of St. Amelia, the setting of Silent Hill: Townfall.

Dynamic Score and Alien: Isolation Veterans

When it comes to sound design, McKellan brought in Byron Bullock, an old colleague from the days of Alien: Isolation. Bullock and his studio Arrival act as co-development partners, handling all aspects of the game’s audio – from cutscene sound to a fully dynamic score system that adapts in real time to gameplay and reacts to the actions of players and enemies. Pilotpriest was closely involved in the development of every dynamic stem, loop, and stinger.

Silent Hill: Townfall is being developed by Screen Burn (Stories Untold) and published by Konami. A specific release date has not yet been announced, but following the first full trailer in March and this composer reveal, more fog is likely to rise from St. Amelia in 2026. After all, Townfall is still set to release later this year.
