Side-scrolling action and top-down strategy come together as publisher SEGA announces SolSeraph for July 10th 2019. This upcoming hybrid will be developed in Chile by Ace Team (Rock of Ages, Zeno Clash, Abyss Odyssey) and will have a SRP of £11.99 (USD pricing TBC). Take a look at the announcement trailer while you wait!
In SolSeraph you slip into the boots of the winged deity Helios with the mission of rebuilding a civilization that was torn apart, while monsters and demons make your life hell. The game offers an interesting mix of both strategy and action game modes. In Strategy Mode, Helios helps a tribe build new buildings, courtyards, and roads, allowing for the population to grow and the area to be expanded. Helios can manipulate the weather to help the village prosper. Protect the tribe from intruders by creating accommodation for warriors, towers for archers and traps to deal with monsters.
Helios lets his sword speak in action mode as he ventures into creatures lairs to fight his way to powerful beings, using his sword, shield and magical archery to assist him in battle. As he ventures further into an area he'll have to take on various traps and creatures while he searches for the region's Younger God. By defeating a lair, Helios will grow in power and is able to take on tougher foes.
- Restore Humanity Back to Prosperity - Balancing side-scrolling action and top-down strategy elements, carefully guide each tribe from the clouds above in order to help expand their territory and dispel the dark fog that shrouds their lands. Once each of the creatures' lairs have been exposed, you must take the role of Helios to fight the monsters head on.
- Take the Fight to the Enemy - Armed with his sword, shield, and magical archery, Helios will need to confront a range of enemies including goblins, beastmen, bat riders, and more on his way to facing the Younger God that controls them. Defeating these challenging foes will grant Helios new magical powers such as healing herbs and ice shards.
- Protect the Homeland - Help each tribe determine how to shape their village by utilizing a range of different units, from houses and farms to support the growing population, to building warrior barracks and archer towers to defend themselves against the waves of monster attacks.
- Help from the Highest Powers - Yuzo Koshiro, the legend behind many classic video game soundtracks, has composed the opening theme to SolSeraph. Additionally, acclaimed writer Jonas Kyrazes (The Talos Principle, The Sea Will Claim Everything) has lent his talents to craft the game's compelling narrative.
SolSeraph is launching on July 10th for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
