Gamescom 2022: Sonic Frontiers speeds in on November 8th 2022!
Sonic Frontiers shows itself from a completely different side eight months after the first announcement. Bury your fears!
When Sonic Frontiers was shown in a trailer for the first time about eight months ago, the Sonic fan community was anything but enthusiastic. There was a hail of criticism. So much criticism that SEGA rolled in, showed the spikes and had to deactivate the comment function on YouTube. Yet it was all just a misunderstanding, as it has now turned out. On the surface, Sonic Frontiers has been criticised for the presentation of the open game world. In the announcement trailer, it actually looked somewhat empty and lifeless. "It doesn't do justice to a Sonic The Hedgehog title," they said. The story trailer released at Gamescom shows a completely different Sonic Frontiers.
Suddenly, the open game world of Sonic Frontiers really does have a soul and is crammed with mysterious characters, mysterious objects and complex tracks on which the blue hedgehog will enjoy letting off steam. The entire game environment now looks much more complex, detailed and absolutely no longer dreary - here we see an open-world Sonic as it should look. The community also confirms this. The very first comment under the YouTube trailer, which has been liked thousands of times, reads:
This trailer looks fantastic. The environments look much better, the voice acting seems pretty good, some of the new fighting techniques look interesting and the story is much more exciting now.
Compared to the new trailer, the older footage we've seen so far almost looks like it's from an early alpha version of the game. Phew, we're pretty reassured ourselves now. There's also a lot of praise from the community for the cinematic cutscenes, the voices and even the expressive faces. The diverse, different areas also arouse curiosity. Sonic Frontiers also seems to be breathtakingly fast - just as we would like the sporty hedgehog to be. As a Sonic fan, Sonic Frontiers makes you want to pin a golden ring on SEGA.
