Star Wars Battlefront 2: The Last Jedi content coming in December

EA announces new Star Wars: The Last Jedi content for the upcoming shooter sequel Star Wars Battlefront 2, coming in December for free.

Not long to wait now until The Force Awakens when Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches next week on November 17th, and while we've known for a while that all content post launch would be free, details were still unclear. Today EA have finally let us in on some free content based around the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie which is set to launch in December. Things kick off on December 5th when you pick a faction to side with, as you fight for either the First Order or the Resistance. Picking side will allow players to take part in special challenges and unlock specific rewards.

On December 13th players will be able to get their hands on characters from the new trilogy of movies as Finn and Captain Phasma join the fight, both of which can be purchased with in-game credits. If you side with a faction that ends up winning the most challenges in that week will unlock a Special crate that contains a high powered upgrade for either Finn or Phasma.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will feature a number of new locations and vehicles in the movie, and the good news is that they will also be making the jump to the game on December 13th as well. Players can try out their weapons on the new planetary map: Crait or take things into the air with the Starfighter Assault map of D’qar, plus the hero ship Tallie Lintra's RZ-2 A-wing will be making an appearance. Lastly, Poe Dameron's T-70 X-wing has a new ability that is inspired by the upcoming movie.

If that wasn't enough, Commander Iden Versio from the game's Single Player Campaign will be back with a brand new expansion titled "Star Wars Battlefront Resurrection" to further expand the story with new chapters that explore the First Order's rise to power in the early days. This will also be available on December 13th. Throughout December the faction you pick will engage in various multiplayer activities and the progress will be displayed in the game, fight for your faction and help crush the opposing forces.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches on November 17th for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Players are also able to get a 10 hour trial if they signup to Origin Access right now.
