Nearly nine years after Sudden Strike 4, Kalypso Media and developer Kite Games are launching the next chapter—and it packs quite a punch. Sudden Strike 5 is a real-time tactical game that puts you in the role of a field commander in the great battles of World War II: On expansive maps across Europe and North Africa, you command three playable factions: the Western Allies, the Soviets, and the German forces. You’ll work your way through 25 missions that take you from the icy wastes of Russia to the scorching heat of the desert.

With more than 300 authentic units, including over 190 vehicles such as the Sherman tank, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, and the T-34, as well as over 110 infantry units, Sudden Strike 5 offers the series’ largest variety of units to date.

Outwit Your Enemy Instead of Just Brute-Forcing Your Way Through

The key lies in tactical freedom: Instead of linear scripts, the game features a prestige system that lets you request specific reinforcements by capturing strategic points like train stations, supply depots, and outposts. To do this, before each mission, you select a commander with their own specialization (offensive, defensive, tactical) and an expandable doctrine system that supports your playstyle with specific bonuses. Reconnaissance, sabotage, bridge demolitions—how you achieve your objectives is up to you.
